Tasting notes
The 2012 Vosne-Romanee La Combe Brulee has a similar bouquet to the Les Hauts de Beaux Monts, although this sample showed reduction that was difficult to shake off. The palate is lively on the entry with orange zest infusing the red cherry fruit. There is a slight sense of bluntness that is highlighted when compared to Clavelier’s premier crus, and perhaps the Les Hauts de Beaux Monts shows a little more panache and pedigree. Drink 2015-2022. (from 85-year-old vines located in the cooler combe and harvested at the end, on September 26; 27 hectoliters per hectare): Good bright, dark red. Musky cherry accented by fresh herbs and a note of chlorophyll. Spicy, juicy and penetrating, showing a distinct edge of acidity and a cool aspect.
