Score 90/100 · Drink 2016-2024, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Aug 2016

Here's a standard and absolutely correct Brunello that is a solid choice for near-term drinking or as an excellent pairing partner to your favorite foods at your local restaurant. In other words, the Le Ragnaie 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is better consumed now and does not demand long cellar aging. The bouquet is savory and rustic with dark fruit and tobacco. The tannins are firm but silky. This wine is ready to drink.

Le Ragnaie's 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is a pretty, delicate wine. Dried cherry, spice, worn-in leather and menthol are all nicely knit together. The wine's advanced color, forward flavors and mid-weight structure all suggest the 2011 is best enjoyed sooner rather than later.

Tasted blind. Maturing ruby with narrow orange rim. Balsamic cherry nose with real depth. Lively, tangy fruit and compact tannins on the palate. Amazing balance on the concentrated finish. (WS)
