The 2019 Chardonnay Rochioli Vineyard, which was aged for 20 months in 20% new French oak, is fragrant with yellow apple, chamomile, and baking spice. It is fresh and open with fruit on the palate, including orchard fruits, orange peel, and salty earth. Drink 2023-2033.
The 2019 Chardonnay Rochioli Vineyard has pure aromas of key lime pie and candied lemon, with touches of graham cracker and pastry. The palate is medium-bodied, satiny and intense, with refreshing bursts of tangy acidity and a very long, layered finish replete with an anchoring touch of texture. That combination of fruit intensity and freshness will allow this to develop for a decade or more in bottle. 903 cases produced.
The 2019 Chardonnay Trochili Vineyard is bright, nuanced and finely sculpted. It shows terrific energy and plenty of verve, but maybe not quite the textural depth I associate with this Russian River site. Orchard fruit, citrus confit, dried flowers and chamomile line up on the nervy, saline finish.
