Tasting notes
Ardbeg has a cult following. Its smoky peated single malts are some of the world’s most sought-after. Its 25 Year Old is made in small volumes, with the latest release coming from the rare handful of casks that were filled prior to the distillery’s renaissance. After a quarter of a decade in ex-Bourbon barrels, the peated Islay malt is balanced and beguiling – Ardbeg at its best.

The smoke is sweet, dry, and complex with aromas of sea spray, lemon peel oils, pine needles, herbal and celery notes, cream, egg-brushed pastries, and snuffed candle wicks. A silky textured dram with green herbal and woody notes, a lively burst of pepper, then it glides into chocolate, lemon bonbons, apple ice cream sundae, spiced toffee gingerbread, and moist coffee grounds. Peppery, mouth-coating finish of creamy lemon and medicinal notes.
About the producer

Ardbeg is one of the most recognisable peated whiskies today. The distillery was instrumental in kickstarting the Islay revival when it reopened in the late 1990s.
