2018 Nuits St Georges Les Herbues

Silty soil near the D974, just 100 m from Vosne. Late ripening. Tank sample, racked to tank when the 2019s went into barrel. Planted 1964. His very first vineyard and he now has the vines in the shape he wants them. 48 hl/ha. 100% whole bunch. Bottled. Ripe, lightly spicy, pure and red fruited. Fragrant with a floral stemmy character but not OTT stemmy. Gently chewy texture and the tannins nicely dry. A wine with finesse but also eminently drinkable. Tangy and delicious. (JH)
