2020 Chassagne Montrachet Les Macherelles

At this stage, this is one of the best wines at Au Pied du Mont Chauve, rivalling the excellent Clos Saint Jean. The nose has subtle depth, elegant and pure with fresh white fruit. The multidimensional palate kicks in with great acidity and minerality, then comes back with a richness, almost Meursault-like in style, but without being suffocating. This great balance runs through the entire wine, from the nose to a long and very determined finish. This will be fantastic in six or seven years’ time.
