Tasting notes
Studert's 2019 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese is intense and pure on the piquant and stony nose that shows ripe and aromatic as well as healthy fruit with good depth and complexity. Mouth-filling, rich and intense on the palate, this is a sweet but also piquant, refined and elegant WSU with a highly stimulating and salty finish. Gorgeous and definitely a highlight in the collection from this small family estate. 8.5% stated alcohol. Screw cap. Tasted from AP 10 20 in November 2021.

A cornucopia of yellow fruit, from peach through mirabelle to Amalfi lemon. Succulent and very elegant with a very precise balance of lively acidity and discreet sweetness ,this is an extremely charming wine that caresses the palate through the long, almost dry and very stony finish. Drink or hold.
The 2019 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese is very clear and spicy on the concentrated, intensely aromatic and flinty/stony nose. Highly delicate and filigreed on the palate, this is a persistently salty and finely grippy Sonnenuhr Spätlese with great balance, finesse and mouthwatering astringency. Excellent. Tasted at the domain in September 2020.
AP number 21 20. Very pale greenish straw. Light and fresh with newly mown grass aromas. Sweeter than many 2019 Spätlesen. Baked-apple aromas with structure and freshness. Almost evanescent on the end. Just a slightly hard note on the finish. But there is great integrity here. Great balance. Lots to chew on. (JR)
