Field blend of 55% Garnacha, 45% Carignan. 85- to 110-year-old vines (yielding 300 g/plant). Pure and authentic Priorat style: powerful expression and concentrated black fruit, graphite and violets. The palate is muscular, massive, yet still stylish thanks to splendid acidity that makes me salivate. Pure expression of small black fruits, extremely concentrated and dense, nevertheless still balanced. Substantial tannins but still velvety, lasting categorically long. Premium and well-matched oak. Great expression of the contemporary era of Priorat. A physical wine to feel and chew. Impressive bottle of wine. (FC)

The classical 2016 Doix Costers de Vinyes Velles is a selection of very old vines (close to 100 years old) that feels harmonious, elegant and floral but with the rustic touch of 55% Cariñena, softened by the Garnacha. It has a vibrant and electric palate, with the acidity of many 2016s, which gives it length and tastiness and should make it develop nicely in bottle. It ranks among the finest vintages of Doix. 3,500 bottles were filled in April 2018.
