2012 Hospices de Beaune Volnay Cuvee Blondeau

Marks & Spencer (UK retailer) bought this wine, along with the Volnay, at the 151st Hospices de Beaune auction, where M&S’s Andy Howard MW tasted over 60 different cuvées before selecting these two wines. The premier cru Volnay is a combination of wines from four different premier cru sites within the commune of Volnay, located just south of Beaune. Mid crimson. Sweet and a bit simple and oak-dominated at the moment. Should get there eventually but for the moment it's a bit raw. (JR)
