Tasting notes
The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has an elegant, poised bouquet, showing a little reduction but opening with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and light acidity, but for me, it is missing some complexity and terroir expression on the finish. I’m not sure if it just fluffed its lines on the day, so I will reserve judgment for the time being.

No stems. Magnums only. Barrel sample. Mid cherry red. Seductively sweet red fruit, so pure and scented not just with fruit but also that sweet rose and subtle exotic spice. Red cherry incarnate. Supple and gorgeous on the palate: lithe, intense without weight. Succulent, mouth-watering, sweetly scented to a long gentle finish though the structure is there for a long life. (JH)
