Score 90/100 · Drink 2014-2024, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2014
The 1999 Brut Rosé Grand Vintage is rich, deep and vinous to the core, with layers of powerful fruit and tons of intensity. Stylistically, the 1999 is a big, somewhat rustic Champagne built on power. There is a real sense of phenolics and tannin, which means the wine is best enjoyed at the dinner table alongside food rather than on its own. The 1999 is 48% Pinot Noir, 26% Chardonnay and 26% Pinot Meunier. Almost half the Pinot Noir is still red Pinot. Dosage is 7 grams per liter.
