Drink 2013-2026, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2006

The Barolo Rupestris, grown on the more vigorous American rootstock, is an awesome effort in 2001. Boasting a dark, translucent color and expressive notes of dark cherries, spices and cough syrup, it is a stunning expression of nebbiolo. Deceptively medium-bodied, it is made in a powerful style that perhaps slightly emphasizes palate sensation over aromatics in its overall balance, yet it displays tremendous purity, nobility and structure.

Cappellano

Serralunga d’Alba’s Cappellano is one of Barolo’s most legendary producers, producing ultra-traditional styles of Nebbiolo. Made famous by Teobaldo and now in the hands of his son Augusto, the estate is best known for its Barolo Piè Franco, a wine from ungrafted vines in the Gabutti Cru.
