Tasting notes
In typical Singerriedel fashion, this features piquantly pit-tinged apricot on the nose and dense palate. Atop that emerge a musky hint of narcissus and a salinity that suggests sea breeze and sweat. A cooling hint of basil along with umami-rich suggestions of salted caramel and browned butter add to the wine’s mouthwatering appeal, while lime and orange zests reinforce the palpably gripping impression conveyed on a lusciously lingering, stone-lined finish.

The 2016 Ried Singerriedel Riesling Smaragd opens with its classic smoky crushed stone aromas that intermix perfectly with ripe and concentrated white stone fruit flavors. The attack on the palate is fresh and vital and opens to a concentrated, intense and full-bodied yet elegant Riesling with a very rich and dense texture and a lovely mineral structure. The finish is salty-piquant, slightly sweet and reveals a good tannin grip. The Singerriedel was picked between October 31 and November 22 and should improve over the years in the bottle.
