The 2015 Chardonnay Collezione Privata is one of the better Chardonnays being made in Italy today. Orchard fruit, chamomile and wild flowers are nicely delineated. Partially blocked malolactic fermentation gives the flavors a sense of brightness and energy this wine hasn't always had. There is lovely textural nuance that brings out the varietal aromas and flavors.

Plenty of new wood to the chardonnay with praline and cooked apple character. Full body, a wealth of fruit and a flavorful finish. Give it a year or two to come completely together but all here.
This white wine hits all the high notes with impeccable precision. The 2015 Chardonnay Collezione Privata shows two sides to the bouquet. On one hand you get generous fruit tones of apricot and preserved lemon with the opulent fullness that characterizes this excellent vintage. On the other hand, you get delicate notes of flint and brimstone that give the wine a linear sense of backbone and persistence. The mouthfeel is driven by freshness, medium build and a very long finish. This is a terrific Chardonnay from Tuscany.
About the producer
Situated north of Castellina, on the western side of Chianti Classico, Isole e Olena was created by the De Marchi family in the 1950s and has since become one of the region’s leading names. It is renowned for its top bottling Cepparello, a pure Sangiovese, as well as its brilliant Chardonnay.
