Tasting notes
The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Aux Reignots 1er Cru comes from relatively young vines, now just over 20 years old (which is why Sébastien Cathiard served it before the En Orveaux). It has a simple but focused bouquet of blackberry and briary aromas. The palate is very well balanced, quite grippy and sappy in the mouth, leading to a sweet, anise-tinged finish that lingers. Very fine, but not the most cerebral cuvée from Cathiard this year.

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Reignots offers up aromas of strawberries, raspberries, rose petals, spices and dark chocolate, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny palate that stands out as one of the most elegant cuvées in the Cathiard cellar, its fruit pure and succulent, its finish long and melting. The vines here are twenty-one years old, but while the Reignots isn't the deepest wine in the range it's among the most charming.
