Tasting notes
We’ve been working closely with Gosset, “One of the very top domains in the Champagne region” (Juhlin) in recent years as their wines are stunning. Indeed, the ‘standard’ 2004 release of this scored a massive 19 out of 20 points with Julia Harding a couple of years back giving a clear indication of just how good it is. This is made from the same base and with the help of the Chef de Cave when he visited us here at the FINE+RARE office earlier this year, we’ve used the dosage to steer it in an even more delicate, finessed and chic direction that we think our clients will love. Founded in 1584, Gosset is one of the true traditionalists of the region. This is the first time they’ve allowed a merchant to select a dosage in their long history and it means that this is one of the most exclusive Champagnes we’ll ever offer as only a few hundred magnums of this will ever exist and there can be no more after that. It perhaps goes without saying that this comes very highly-recommended indeed. Toasted hazelnut, green apple and a touch of almond on the nose. Very clean, fresh, elegant and beautifully weighted with more green apple then citrus peel and toasted nut character. A dazzling streak of minerality shines through and leads to a long and very precise finish.
