Score 17/20 · Drink 2012-2027, Jancis Robinson MW, Nov 2024

Full bottle 1,624 g. 60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay, 15–20 grands crus and premiers crus. Very deep golden amber – deeper colour than the White Foil NV served alongside. Lighter, fresher nose than the White Foil based on 2006 or 2008 served alongside, with more obvious acidity and refreshment. The mousse is not that lively but it has real undertow and, still, a future. Lemony. Amazing! (JR)

Magnum. Disgorged September 2007. 60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay, 15-20% grands crus and premiers crus. Explosive, lots of acidity. Broad on the palate. Complex and much drier than most. Really exciting with breadth and a hint of mushrooms. Long. (JR)

Bready nose. Bone dry with meaty flavour on the mid palate. Much drier than many Pol Roger champagnes. Very long and impressive on the finish. Beautiful drinking now – if more evolved than the Winston Churchill 1998. (JR)

Plumply satisfying, brioche and crème pâtissière-style. Fine bubbles, seamless texture. A classy example of this often rather undemonstrative year. (AH)
