Tasting notes
(also vinified with some whole clusters): Full medium red. Red berries, plum and loam on the nose, plus a candied nuance; darker in its aromas than the Occidental Ridge bottling. Also drier and less filled in but shows good juicy cut to its flavors of berries, spices, flowers and pepper. Finishes with a firm dusting of tannins. Still a bit brooding.

Deep and powerful, the 2012 Pinot Noir Silver Eagle Vineyard is especially brooding in this vintage. Black cherries, tar, smoke and licorice all burst from the glass in an explosive, full-bodied Pinot. This is one of the more reticent wines in the range, with a burly personality that is going to take some time to fully come together. Initially quite dark, the 2012 brightens up considerably with time in the glass, suggesting a future with plenty of potential. Hints of cranberry, pomegranate and orange peel leave a lasting impression on the finish. The 2012 was fermented with 10% whole clusters.
