Tasting notes
Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Colorino. As in many parts of France, a disjointed growing season with poor weather in the spring and generally cooler conditions throughout. As in 2007, an ‘Indian’ summer came to the rescue with the harvest starting mid September and finishing late October. Graetz noted that 2008 is a wine that he modelled the 2018 blend on. From a cooler vintage, this seems to suit the style of Colore very well. Soft tannins and restraint are evident, along with soft, ripe, plum fruit on the palate and violet on the nose. There is depth here but there is also less concentration. Very elegant and refined. (AH)

About the producer

Based just outside Florence, Bibi Graetz is something of a maverick in the Tuscan wine scene. Working with old vineyards of indigenous grapes around Chianti, he produces intense wines classified as IGT Toscana; not fitting neatly in either the Super Tuscan or Chianti camp.
