Second wine of Smith Haut-Lafitte . Early hints of undergrowth and leather – the most developed aromas of any wine tasted so far – but also sweet vanilla and very ripe plums. Then much darker and less aromatic on the palate. Firm and dry and less expressive in the mouth. Tannins are ripe and rounded. (JH) One of 56 Pessac-Léognan reds that were tasted blind in London for Decanter magazine in July 2008.
