The 2001 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuées 1er Cru is not a wine that I have tasted before. Showing moderate signs of bricking, it has a slightly herbaceous nose, missing a little red fruit and developing a light ferrous scent. The palate is fully matured with light tannins, a little rustic in style and just needing more weight on the back end. This Fuées is a bit ephemeral for me. Tasted at Hatched restaurant in London.

Medium dullish red. Slightly decadent aromas of cedar, mocha, maple syrup and truffle. Plush, sweet and pliant without being especially expansive; this is ready to go but still boasts good energy. Finishes long, with firm tannins turning a bit dusty with air. Ghislaine Barthod remembers 2001 as "a serious and austere" vintage and suggests pouring this wine into a carafe to allow it to gain in fruit and complexity. But I'm not sure that this particular bottle is going anywhere.
Medium red. Rather closed nose hints at red cherry, red licorice and medicinal herbs. Then almost shockingly broad, silky and rich, with sweet, highly aromatic red fruit flavors complicated by pepper and fresh herbs. Finishes impressively long and rich, with dusty tannins.
