Tasting notes
Touch of smoky reduction, like the Charmes 2007 – due to the high acidity, says Pierre-Yves (rain in summer). Quite spicy too. And intensely crisp – one for acid freaks but still finely balanced, just a touch more austere than the 2008. Flavours of orange on the finish. Long and lean and lingering. (JH)

All in new 335-litre barrels. More reserved on the nose than the Bâtard. More upright and tight and linear than the Bâtard, too. Dense and highly strung, nerveux, sinewy, controlled but with so much going on. Amazing complexity within a very tight framwork. Where power and elegance kiss. (JH)
