Tasting notes
(a blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot) Deep, bright ruby. Cassis, violet, tobacco and a leafy, herbal element on the nose. Concentrated, moderately ripe and tightly wound; distinctly less creamy and pliant than the 2001 cabernet, with less obvious sweetness of fruit. A greenness on the back gives the finish a faintly dry edge.

The outstanding, open-knit 2000 First Growth Terra Rossa, a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Merlot, reveals an inky/purple color as well as a sweet nose of chocolate-infused creme de cassis along with hints of cedar, loamy soil, and toasty French oak. This rich, nicely-textured 2000 is far more evolved and open than most Parker Coonawarra Estate First Growth Cabernet Sauvignons tend to be.
