Tasting notes
Initially quite fresh and then notes of ripeness right up to the limit but – just – not over the limit. Appetising dry finish. Some real nerve and minerality here. Really interesting and, most unusually for 2009, there is a lovely length to this wine. When I turned the bottle I saw that this is the wine from Dominique Thienpont of Le Pin and VCC family fame. Really pretty nice and complex. This is a property quite close to Le Pin and here's what I wrote about it when I last tasted it during the 2006 primeurs: Gravel over clay which is higher than at Le Pin so less water stress here than at Le Pin, according to Dominique Thienpont, who sells this wine (the property is looked after by François Despagne). About the producer

This small estate, just a stone’s throw from Le Pin, is one of the most exciting addresses in Pomerol. Ch. Guillot-Clauzel produces an elegant style of Pomerol and, with Guillaume Thienpont running the property in 2018, it is one you’ll want to keep an eye on.
