Score 91/100 · Drink 2006-2021, Robert Parker, Feb 2006
The dark plum/purple-tinged 2003 Hermitage possesses a fat, chewy nose of tar, chocolate, blackberries, cassis, and scorched earth. Dense, powerful, viscous, and long, it should drink well for 10-15 years. Importer: JAO Wine Imports, McLean, VA.

Good full ruby. Aromas of blackberry, cassis, menthol and bitter chocolate. Extremely ripe and impressively dense (the alcohol is 15. 2%), with port-like flavors of black fruits and dark chocolate. Very rich but just this side of heavy. Finishes with powerful but fine tannins. Impressive for this classique bottling. This will be approachable early but has the stuffing to age.
