Château Rol Valentin
A favorite from St. Emilion, this wine offers that complex matrix of accessibility and age-worthiness inherent to this appellation. It is a pity (or maybe not?) that this property is not as renowned as it should be. Since Eric Prissette a former football player - European style - bought the property in 1994, there has been an intense focus on producing "the most magnificent, flamboyant, and concentrated wines possible." To that end, the wine sees frequent punch-downs during fermentation, malolactic fermentation and aging in 100% new oak on the lees, and micro-oxygenation. The high caliber of these wines contrasts sharply their thoroughly reasonable prices. This is an 85-90% Merlot production, so expect a plush entry and roundness of palate.
